I had breakfast on Saturday with a neighbor I haven’t talked to in months. Toward the end of the meal, she reminded me that I had borrowed her Ultimate Sweater Machine quite a while ago and asked if I’d made anything with it. Um, the answer would be no. But embarrassed by the gentle reminder, I pulled it out the other day and started fiddling with it.
Wow, you can sure knit stockinette stitch fast on this thing. I knit up a whole skein of Lion Brand Fishermen’s Wool (465 yards!) in the time it takes to brush your teeth.
The obvious question is, “What the hell is she going to do with that?”
Don’t worry, I have a plan. And I’m sure the observant among you know what it is.
I regret to report that there hasn’t been much progress on the new Forest Canopy Shawl. In fact, I’m seriously thinking of frogging it because it’s served its purpose–i.e., to redirect my attention back to the nearly finished baby blanket. I’m weird like that. There’s nothing like a new project to get me interested in a project I’ve become lukewarm about. So, I soldier on with the blanket. But first . . . .
I did make a quick little washcloth using the endless cone of cotton and a shop pattern. Update: There is a similar pattern here that uses the same techniques.

Doesn’t it look just perfect with that yummy bar of Blessed Juno soap?
And, I forgot to post photos of the roving I dyed on Sunday. It’s wool blend roving I got from Amy.
I used Cushing dye (dark green and turquoise) and the method Kate taught us last September when I took her class at GBFAF. Basically, you heat up the roving and the water in a large pot and then just pour the different colors of dye on top and walk away . . . . you got it, just walk away. Works like a charm every time. That Kate is a genius I tell you.
And speaking of roving and Kate and Idaho, is anyone going to the Snake River Fiber Fair?
