Shamed Into It
Well, Cheryl has shamed me into posting. But, seriously, this is my second post this month so I’m picking up steam.
The dog days of summer have been consumed with knitting things that I subsequently fail to photograph. I’ve recently completed a Mohair Bias Loop, a Linen Stitch Scarf, a lovely silk and mohair Annabella’s Cowl, and a Schieffelin Point Shawl. Well, make that two Schieffelin Point Shawls since I had to frog the first and reknit it. Yet, I have no photographic evidence that any of these projects actually exist. Some day.
I also designed a cowl pattern for Judy at Ball & Skein. I just love the way she dyes yarn, especially . . . mmmmmm . . . 100% cashmere yarn. Lovely stuff.
I’m really pleased with the finished cowl, but stumped when it comes to a name. Any suggestions?

Umm, well “Stumped” or Forest Stump or Mushroom Stump seem appropriate …
Chimney pot. Ancient redwood. Forest stalwart. Sun through leaves.
Laddered grace? Graceful ladders? (I’m stuck on this concept.)
I say it looks delish…cause it looks so luxurious. So ‘Delish’ (like delicious)
I always have such a hard time with names. Wish I could help, too early in the morning.
How about “Eirian” which is Welsh for “bright, beautiful”?
What’s with all the Churchmouse patterns? Were you up here vacationing or something? They are lovely. I fondled that Annabelle’s Cowl at the store and it’s been high on my priority list ever since. They didn’t have a combo of colors that sang to me at the time though. I will have to try again.
I don’t even know why, but “Vera” jumped to mind for me. So pretty, and in 100% cashmere dyed so pretty by Judy, who really cares what the name is!
Nice cowl! (Oh, wait – maybe I should have said “Crikey! Nice cowl!”)
It makes me think of a tree, with those long vertical stripes, so maybe something to do with trees?
I love how your Schieffelin Point Shawl turned out! It’s a perfect size, and I absolutely love the color.
Really Cute Cowl? No?
Anyway, I like it!
The name should be something tree related maybe birch bark. Love it when you blog you always have such interesting things to show and say. Your patterns are great.
You’re alive!
Lovely cowl.
Call it “Grove”. It’s amazing to see you posting twice in a month, let alone a week! Hope your tomorrow is a fun day!!
cowl heaven

turtleneck heaven
I don’t care what you name it but I so want to knit it! I hope you publish the pattern soon. It’s a lovely cowl.
Hello! I’ve stumbled upon your blog doing a Search for yarn shops in Florence….is the shop you have been at called Donna 87? Would be grateful for any sort of directions and advice. I’m a novice lace knitter really, have managed one scarf but would love to buy some more laceweight at a good price.
Thanks and kind regards from Northern Ireland – we go to Italy next week.

I’m bad with names, but sure like the cowl!
I’m “AuntK” on Ravelry. I just finished ‘Feather Duster.’ Did I do something drastically wrong?! Mine is nowhere near large enough to be a shawl; I’ll have to call it a scarf.
I used lacewt yarn, size 7 needles, and followed the pattern meticulously… can you figure it out?
Loved the pattern… just wish it was larger.
Thanks so much, k.
Lovely cowl!
