Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin’

Until I got a comment from Susanne today, I had no idea it had been more than a month since my last blog post. Yikes. How did that happen? I guess it’s easy to fall out of the habit of blogging.

I’ve decided to keep myself on the posting track by instituting a Friday theme for the blog . . . Five on Friday.  Every Friday I’ll post five things I’ve done since the Friday before.  Is anyone interested in joining me?

Of course, today isn’t Friday, but here are five things I’ve done since last time I posted.

1. I went to Boston to visit my parents and squeezed in a one-day detour to Springfield.

2. I finished NaKniSweMoDo sweater #8 (link to Ravelry project page):

3. I finished NaKniSweMoDo sweater #9 (link to Ravelry project page):

4. I released a new shawl pattern called Beach Glass. You can purchase it by clicking through to my Ravelry storefront and I’ll be adding it to the sidebar early next week.

5. I took a leisurely train ride to Ogden to visit one of my favorite yarn shops, the Needlepoint Joint.

What about you? Have you done something fun in the last month???

At least I knew you were still alive.

In the past month, I went to Las Vegas and then my sister came for a visit. Las Vegas was sadly too cold for swimming, but the visit with my sister was nice.

I was starting to wonder where you were! And what a fancy looking train.

Not much new here in Baku. Looking forward to my summer break – going to be in DC and the outer banks as well as a quick trip to Seattle for my cousin’s wedding.

Tried to learn to crochet (still trying), marked six months without buying yarn (my stash seems only a tiny bit smaller), and finally conquered seaming – my mattress stitching is slow, but it looks nice.

    Let’s see…
    Watched several rain storms.
    Started sweater #8
Went to a wedding on an alpaca farm
    Knit a shawl
And only seen you once in a month.

I haven’t posted in two months, but I’ve knitted a cardi, crocheted a tank, and I have another tank otn, and I’m working on a toe up sock.

Your $2.25 green tank is beautiful, fast, and well..$2.25. Sweet!

I started knitting your beach glass pattern which i bought at MA sheep and wool this year. I am using 600 yards of of Cashmere from Ball and Skein. Your pattern is well written, clear and fun. Thanks.

I finished a shawl, started another, got a new-to-me spinning wheel, missed seeing you on your trip east, longed for sun.

I went to Jimmy Buffett, had a mini vacation, finished some socks and a shawl but none of that is as exciting as the things you’ve done!

Lutea is awesome. Maybe I should give it another shot?

I’ve given up blogging altogether but here’s 5 things I did in the last 24 hours…

    1. ran through a disc golf course
    2. panned for gems
    3. sang kareoke in a biker bar
    4. found a chocolate tractor
    5. brought home cooties

I figured you were trapped under a pile of sweaters.

Does being cranky count as doing something? ;^)

  13. Debra in Seattle on 28 Jun 2009 at 8:17 am

Ok, in the past 3 weeks I have:
Celebrated/Observed/Participated in daughter’s birthday, my birthday, promotion from 5th grade (for daughter), graduation from 8th grade (other daughter), school out, father’s day, 22nd wedding anniversary, new part-time job and I must confess I am a bit tired :)

My knitting suffered. My simple garter stitch project was tinked back so many times.

I like the idea of Five for Friday. Doing lists is a nice accessible way to blog (I always come up with great ideas for blog posts when I’m nowhere near my computer!)

Coming out of lurkdom to comment on your beautiful knits! That Waterfall is absolutely stunning. And, though I’m not usually a shawl person, I do have Beach Glass in my queue – it is really lovely. Thanks for all the eye candy :)

  16. michele on 28 Jun 2009 at 2:26 pm

Just purchased the Beachy Glass pattern. I LOVE your patterns. Hope you’re having a great summer.

Seeing that pic of the basketball has me wondering if you’re an Orangewoman… that’s super cool if you are cause I am too! I graduated in 1998 from the VPA program :-)

  18. Batty on 28 Jun 2009 at 6:34 pm

Not sure about fun, but I just closed out the biggest project I’ve ever managed.

And I cooked. A lot. Hmmm… I guess I’m compensating for the work-heavy stuff by cooking like crazy. Go figure.

    So sleeveless sweaters count?

    go ahead. . .say it!

Drove to VA to visit a friend and assist at a fiber festival, bonded in the dirt with my daughter, assisted with teaching a nuno felt workshop, drove to north of Boston to visit with a friend during studio tour weekend, watched my riding lessons get washed out with rain over and over again, got wet, and kicked and punched my way to getting fit. Yes, a notable lack of knitting in there. I did, however, fall in love Beach Glass and think the look of it in the front view would make a lovely cardigan.

  21. Heidi on 29 Jun 2009 at 8:16 am

I like the idea of 5 on Friday. I’ll try and remeber to do this.
Let’s see there was a broom making class, Black Sheep Gathering, a weaving study class, a leather working class and a 7 year olds birthday.
That’s just happened in June. I can wait to see what up for July.
    Glad to see you’re back.

  22. Birdsong on 29 Jun 2009 at 9:16 am

I love sweater #8.. now I want to make myself another! Lots happened in June, but I have been a bad blogger too, not keeping up to date. Just went to a fun baby shower for my first grandbaby due at the beginning of September and feeling very glad life has let me get to this point in time!
