Bandwagon

I’m not usually enamored with things that seem to captivate others.  My TV has never been tuned to American Idol, I have no desire to read the Twilight books, my sock drawer doesn’t harbor a single pair of Monkeys or Jaywalkers, and my closet is devoid of a February Lady Sweater.   That said, I’ve recently knit several “viral” patterns.   One is the Shalom Cardigan.

Model: The Daughter.
Yarn Specs: One skein of Cascade Ecological Wool.
Mods: Of course! They’re detailed on my Ravelry project page.
Verdict: Love it.

On a related note, I just powered my way through the entire first season of Dexter in one week.  Fascinating.  Or not.  Do I love it, or hate it??  And you?

    Just lovely!

Yes, yes. Nice sweater, too. ;^)

It’s beautiful! (and yes, it’s in my que, lol) I will now admit that I have a pair of Monkeys, the FLS, have read all four Twilight novels and have the movie. But I don’t watch American Idol. A girl has to draw the line somewhere, right?

    Love the sweater.

Also: Love Dexter. I also wasn’t sure after the first season, but the second season was even better in my opinion. The current season is the best so far, in my opinion. I would recommend also reading the books. They’re different from the show, but both are awesome in their own ways.

Hate it. Couldn’t get through the first DVD. Love the Shalom, though.

Lovely! It really suits your daughter. I’ve been tossing up knitting this too. I think you’ve just won me over!

I just watched the 1st season of Dexter as well. Amazing stuff!

I don’t go for the viral patterns either, but that sweater looks amazing on you daughter.

Oh Dexter! I checked out Season 1 from the library on a recommendation from my brother. How can you like something that makes you cringe? I’m hooked, but my husband definitely doesn’t understand the attraction. I’m afraid I will definitely seek out Season 2!

Great sweater! It looks fantastic on your daughter. I have this in my Ravelry queue or favorites or something. This makes me want to knit it even more.

Excellent sweater. Hannah is looking quite grown up.

  10. rositta on 02 Nov 2009 at 8:48 pm

What, no jaywalkers…every self respecting sock drawer should have at least one pair, lol…the sweater looks wonderful…ciao

You know, oddly enough, I’m not sure I’ve seen that pattern before. I love the color you chose for it, and the buttons really add to the finished look. Awesome!

    Great sweater!

    Love Dexter!

    That sweater is awesome.

Dexter is way creepy. I had to stop watching it because I couldn’t stand admiring a serial killer.

I’m so out of it I’ve never heard of Shalom. No FLS or monkey socks but I did make a clapotis just to see what the fuss was about. It was a very fun knit. I like you Shalom and I do have several skeins of Ecowool lounging around. Hmmm

  16. margene on 03 Nov 2009 at 6:05 am

Shalom looks good on you and Hannah.
I’m with you on Dexter. Do I or don’t I?

  17. Caffeinegirl on 03 Nov 2009 at 6:13 am

Now I have two more things to queue: the Shalom sweater and Dexter. Thanks!

  18. Estella on 03 Nov 2009 at 6:14 am

Every time I see this sweater I think “I need to make this!” – your version again confirmed what a lovely pattern it is.

  19. jen c on 03 Nov 2009 at 6:29 am

    love the sweater!

dexter – love it and hate it. i love the story idea and i love his character…but the acting is pretty weak (especially the sister character – oh my gosh she is terrible!)… and the dialogue is forced… and yet, i can’t NOT watch it! (covering my eyes a lot of course)

  20. Lisa on 03 Nov 2009 at 6:29 am

Love the sweater! Your daughter looks beautiful!

I printed out the pattern after I checked my friends activity on Ravelry and saw that Margene had faved it.

And now I will totally shame myself and ask – who’s Dexter? :)

beautiful sweater on a beautiful young woman. this is my first time seeing that sweater as i yam not a sweater knitter.Dexter ? oh hell yes, and i’ve watched the british mini series “jeykll” three times.

  22. marri on 03 Nov 2009 at 8:20 am

love the cardi; LOVE dexter. it’s awesome. now go rent season 2!

  23. Kathy on 03 Nov 2009 at 8:22 am

I love the sweater. ?? — have you tried it? Do you like it on you? I love how it looks, but not sure if it would work on my more “mature” body type!

  24. Hillary on 03 Nov 2009 at 10:00 am

That sweater has been in my queue for a while but I can’t make up my mind about it. I’m not at all confused about my thoughts on Dexter. I love that show. I read the books too and they’re very different but pretty good in their own warped way. I think the show may be better.

  25. Debra on 03 Nov 2009 at 10:16 am

I would love to make a February Lady sweater, my kids have read the Twilight books, I have not watched Dexter – don’t receive that channel and will not be renting it. Kind of makes me cringe. But my husband would probably love it. Have not watched American Idol but have watched plenty of Deadliest Catch, some Amazing Race and Biggest Loser.

  26. Laurie on 03 Nov 2009 at 11:48 am

Love the sweater. Perfect model. Can’t even tell you what Dexter is.

  27. Donna on 03 Nov 2009 at 2:03 pm

That’s the nicest Shalom I’ve seen, and I agree – Hannah looks like a bonafide grownup (I thought of her bat mitzvah M&Ms this week, because a friend in my knitting group was bat mitzvahed as an adult – lovely ceremony, no M&Ms).

And Dexter seemed great, but gave me the creeps so I gave up halfway though the first season.

  28. Dianne on 03 Nov 2009 at 6:26 pm

Put me in the LOVE column..and welcome back to blogland..you’re missed when so quiet, but you get blog credit for taking care of Margene’s blog while she was away.

  29. drleonesse on 05 Nov 2009 at 7:14 am

Yep. Love Dexter. How is that possible? I scratch my head about that all the time.
