Sucked In
Despite my abysmal record at following through with -alongs, I couldn’t stop myself from signing up for Vicki’s 2008 ABC-along.
I participated in the 2006 ABC-along when Anne hosted it, but true to form I never posted all 26 photos. I swear I’ll do better this time. Really.
And speaking of Anne, she’s been diligent about posting a WIP report every Wednesday. I toyed with the idea of joining her and blogging my WIPs every Wednesday but then I realized that would involve actually determining how many WIPs I have and locating all of them. Um, probably not a feasible goal.
Instead, I hope to unearth one WIP each week and then decide whether to frog it or finish it. Feel free to weigh in on the decisions.
Here are the first of the WIPs.
Frog . . . or . . . Finish??

These project both fall squarely on the “finish” end of the spectrum.
The hat is for my long-suffering husband who has been waiting patiently for the holiday knitting to end so he can move to the top of the knitting queue. It’s been c.o.l.d. as hell here so I feel a bit of urgency to finish it.
The green scarf is for a one-skein swap I’m participating in with my Stitch ‘n Bitch group. I’ll divulge more details when it’s finished and I’ll be posting the pattern at the same time. But the swap is next Tuesday so I better get my arse in gear.

Thanks for the heads up on the ABC along - I enjoyed the 2006 one so much I will ahve to do it again!
Me too on the A-B-C Along. Happy New Year! And a one-skein swap is a terrific idea — look forward to seeing what your grrls come up with!
Hmmm. ABC Along Drop Out, Finish or Frog . . . I’m sensing a theme here. Do you have completion issues? LOL
Poor B. his ears must be freezing!
I did the ABC-along last time around. I made it all the way to C.
I think you should finish the hat–but I may be reading something into your point about your husband waiting patiently for it. I’ve promised a simple watch cap for DH, and it has gotten bumped by other projects.
Your WIP evaluation every two weeks is a very ambitious goal.
I didn’t quite make it through the abc-along last time either so my plan this time was to just pick up the letters I missed. Like half an -along.
Sounds doable. But we’ll see.
Hahahaahaaaaa! I love the fact that you think my WIP posts only contain the things I have on the needles currently. I only picked three at a time, because honestly, I think I’d blow up the Typepad server if I listed them all weekly.
Enjoy the ABC-along. I know Vicki will do it justice!
Heh, I can attest to how well you do with -alongs! Do the words Holiday Headstart ring any bells? Now, I joined the Ravelry group, so where do I get that button?
As far as I know, there are no -Along police. ; )
Heh, it’s all about you — having fun with it, challenging yourself (if you want) — if you only want to do only consonants, or only vowels, or every other letter, or lower-case letters with descenders…
I’m glad you’ve joined up!
Good luck! The green looks so soft.
I think I’d do better if the -along police that Vicki mentioned actually exist.
Heh, finish that hat!
You’re inspiring me to finish something for my husband as well.
I believe a frog or finish is up to the knitter. Now that’s hit the 20º here in FL, I sure wish I had warmer stuff. I may start a wool sweater after all! Oh and socks!
Oh yay! I wanted to do the ABC-along last time and I missed the sign-ups. Thanks for the heads-up!
Sucked in alright..! I’ve been reading your blog today, every single entry, while feeling sorry for my sick little self. I had such a good time! You are amazingly creative, it’s inspirational just to read about! have a great new year!
Now I don’t feel so bad about all my WIPs. If I were to do a regular posting about them, it might be a little long!
IF I get my arse in gear in time for the swap, it’ll have to be fifth gear. Yikes.
I have been wondering what you’d do…
Ooh! The scarf looks so light and fluffy! I love it!
I also have KAL issues. Glad to know I’m not the only one!
Uhh, yeah, you really should get a hat done for your hubby. I have no doubt you can finish the other one skein project for your swap.
I’m not good at knit alongs personally, the only one I ever joined was a Green Sock one and realized after three pairs that I really didn’t want any more green socks. Nowadays I’m just trying to reduce my stash and finish stuff i started last year…ciao
Happy New Year, Susan! I agree, your husband deserves the hat. In fact, you are lucky that he will wear them! Mine won’t (the coiffure, you know… can’t mess up the coiffure.)
WELL, YOU KNOW. . .that color is totally ME. I don’t see how any other SLC-SNB chickie would DARE to claim it!
And, yes, the Koigu beaded bag has been finished for over a week. Hope nobody drops dead from surprise that I’ve actually managed something on time–even EARLY.
