Regrettably, I Am Not Shaped Like A Hanger

Finished.  Finally.

Pattern: Sabine by Cocoknits

Yarn: Habu Cotton Gima

Needle: 4mm Holz & Stein ebony

Mods:  Hmmm . . . where to begin.  I started making the medium size but quickly realized something was funky with the numbers and measurements in the schematic.  So I sorta, kinda switched midstream to the large size (I usually knit sweaters in size small).  It’s top-down so it wasn’t rocket science.  In addition, I added length to the sleeves and the body.  But, the finished “sweater” is still too short and the fronts too skimpy.  The neck, though, is ginormous.  The poor fit of this sweater surprises me because my gauge was spot on.   Perhaps it would look better in the suggested yarn.  Or not.  This one in the Cotton Gima is not very wearable; it hangs very strange.

It looks good on the hanger, though.

Ravelry:  Here’s a link to the project on Ravelry.

What a shame. It looks beautiful on the hanger.
If you made a large.. I wonder what the rest of the world would need.

It’s amazing more people haven’t complained about that sweater. Maybe they just stop knitting when they realize it won’t fit anyone or there are more people shaped like hangers than we realize.

I did a Debbie Bliss sweater like that recently…twice. Debbie freaking Bliss….can’t trust anyone anymore. It looks nice on the hanger, though.

Huh. I actually have that sweater queued in Ravelry. Thanks for the warning! It sure starts out with a lot of sts in the back section, doesn’t it?

It stinks that this didn’t turn out the way you hoped. Bummer.

Carla would be more than happy to take it off your hands. She’s got lovely broad shoulders.

It is a lovely hanger accessory.

Rats. I do look forward to seeing it in person, though. I hope it isn’t really as bad as you think it is.

Bummer after investing all that time and energy into it! Knitter Beware.

Crap - nothing worse than plowing along and realizing it’s not meant for you. I guess it’s not worth frogging or fixing, is it?

It does look pretty good on the hanger. :) Oh well.

Wow. If you couldn’t fix it, it can’t be fixed!!!

Major drag, since it really does look so good on the hanger.

So sad it didn’t turn out! I recently paid for a download of this pattern. :/

It is very pretty. What a shame it won’t fit you. But it makes nice wall art.

What a shame as it looks so nice & drapey. Love the color.

Hmm, maybe it works as a reading-in-bedjacket?

  19. Tan on 18 Nov 2008 at 11:24 pm

It is very pretty on the hanger.

That really is terribly sad. Something that looks so lovely on the hanger really should look even better on a human.
