Oh Baby
I’ve found a new, go-to baby sweater pattern.
All you need is the Yarni Cardigan pattern from Mary Lou Egan;
a skein of sock yarn (the more garish the better);
And one, 3.25mm circular needle:
Mix them all together and you get an adorable baby cardi (there are more photos and some notes on my Ravelry project page):
Let’s see . . . if I used all the sock yarn in my stash to make these sweaters . . . . .

…you could clothe every baby in the world;-)
Oh, ha! Margene beat me to the joke!
Love the buttons. What a cute cardi. Are you making another one?
Hi Susan, the sweater turned out really cute! BTW, I put the pattern in my shop on Ravelry this weekend to test the shop out. I’m not really sure how to configure things, but the baby sweater should work!

Yeah, like Margene has room to talk…

Too cute! I’ll definitely keep it in mind for future baby gift opportunities.
Sounds like a great idea!
Thanks for the heads up on such a neat pattern. I just downloaded it and plan to start it soon. Lord knows I’ve enough sock yarn to outfit a few babies. Thanks again.
If you run out, I can send you some…..
Definitely a cute sweater…a good idea for my all my friends’ impending wee ones.
That sweater is adorable! I just may have to file that idea for “future use”.
What did you decide to do on the neck?
Evil woman! As if I needed to buy another pattern, but it uses sock yarn, brilliant! I’ve already bought it, thanks enabler you!! (heehee)It’s a great pattern and I like being able to use sock yarn. That’s awesome.
i love not baby colors on babys. great job.
Very cute! It’s amazing how the pattern turns a butt ugly skein into something so cute! Nice job!
Adorable! It’s amazing how great those crazy colors look when they’re baby-sized and wrapped around some fancy stitchwork.
So cute! I’ve got some babies to knit for, thanks for the tip!
That is just about the cutest thing I’ve seen in a while. Of course, I just had to head on over and order the pattern. It’s all I can do to stop myself from casting on right now - but it’s late!
ha ha. Manise said “butt ugly” about that skein.
cute!
I just added it to my Favorites on Ravelry. I love it! What a great way to use up skeins of sock yarn stash. I’m definitely getting this pattern!
*Wince*- hope I didn’t offend with my comment above. I didn’t mean to sound so harsh. Sorry.
Really cute! I love seeing other uses for sock yarn.
I’m so blown away by being able to get an entire baby sweater out of one skein of sock yarn.
Thanks for the link. I am filing this away for the next time it is needed.
Then you will have enough extra room to go buy MORE yarn! Yippeee!
Very cute! A neat idea for those great sock yarns.
ok, i’m confused. Joyce says she downloaded the pattern but all i can find is where you buy the pattern. i’m getting another granddaughter in august (#3 girl)so think this would be a great sweater to make for her. thank you.
Charming, but where were you last week when I had time to knit this for the baby shower next weekend? Oh well, I have a few yarn candidates for such a project. Off to have a closer look at the pattern.
What a fantastic baby sweater!!
That’s so cute! I’m bookmarking it right now…
