New Home

As you’re probably aware, MagKnits is gone and all the archived patterns have been deleted, including my Amber Hat and Lombard Street Socks patterns. I contemplated creating PDF files of the patterns and uploading them to Ravelry, but I know there are many people who aren’t yet on Ravelry. (As an aside, what are you waiting for?? Sign up now!!)

Jody graciously offered to host the patterns on her new ezine, Knotions and I quickly took her up on the offer.

You can find Amber here, and Lombard Street here. I’ve also fixed the links in my sidebar and on Ravelry.

Three cheers for Jody. The patterns look awesome!

Susan, this is wonderful that Jody and Susan have put some of the magknit patters up….yours are beautful!

    Whatever happened to Magknits?

That’s great - I put my Magknits pattern on my blog, but would be glad to support a new effort by having people link over there. I’ll contact Jody. Thanks for the info!

Just so you are aware, if you upload it to Ravelry, you are given the option of an external link you can place on your blog so that non-Ravelers can also get the pattern pdfs too (I know this because that’s what I ended up doing with Counterpoint - my own Magknits refuge - grin).

Thank you for seeing to it that your patterns have a place we can find them! I didn’t know MagKnits was gone, and I could smack myself for not printing a few things out. Somehow I have it in my mind that the internet is forever LOL. I usually opt not to print a pattern until I am actually going to knit it, otherwise I’d never “save a tree”. I’d be using reams of paper!

A friend of mine told me recently about a designer that had many free patterns up on her website. She passed away, and the website was taken down, and there was a big debate going on (maybe on Ravelry?) about whether or not people who had printed the patterns could share them. Morbid thing to have to think about, but I thought it was an interesting dilemma.

I’m glad Jody picked up the ball (of yarn) and ran with it and that those great patterns of yours have another home now. :)

And thank you for offering them to Knotions! I appreciate all the support and nods of confidence the designers have expressed in sending them to Knotions. The additional traffic and PR is more than I could have hoped for!

So, three cheers back at ya :)

I’m glad you were able to find a spot for them. I guess we will all have to think twice about patterns we see online, and save a copy right away.

I’ve knitted an Amber hat, but not the socks, so I’ve but them on my “to do” list. Thanks for sharing the patterns with us again.
