Eter-knitty Socks

Thanks to a little help from Donald, I was able to finish a pair of socks that have been on my needles since last October. Yup . . . October!

I started them on the plane to Rhinebeck, finished the first one fairly quickly, immediately cast on for the second, but then allowed them to languish while I worked on other projects.  I like the way they turned out, but I just wasn’t feeling the love as I knit them.

Pattern: Undulating Rib Socks by Ann Budd from the book, Favorite Socks

Yarn: Trekking (XXL) gifted to me by Cheryl

Time to Knit: Eternity

Mods: The pattern calls for a wedge toe but I worked a star toe because it fits me better.

I really like the stitch pattern even though it’s a little fiddly to work. It looks much better when the sock is stretched out all the way.

These socks turned out really nice. I’ve been looking for more uni-sex sock patterns that I could use for the guys on my list. I should look at this pattern again. I really like the texture in your photos! They look like they would be stretchy.

    Well done.

They are beautiful. Too bad they were such a pain to knit.

wow–they photographed a lot lighter than they really are. They’re pretty, though. I’m surprised to didn’t do a wedge toe—you, avoiding kitchener? oy vey

Those are gorgeous. My Trekking socks are among the most-worn in my wardrobe - they might last forever.

They look great. I started a pair of socks in the pattern once, but it was such a hassle that I ended up ripping them out.

I like the way the pattern looks! Very nice even if it did take months to finish.

Gorgeous pattern. I also love the heel. Well done!

Gee, I wouldn’t have recognized them from the photo - they look so light. All the better to see the stitch pattern, though. I love star toes - the wedge ones look nice, but they don’t feel as comfy.

I started a pair of these once, but didn’t get beyond a few inches of cuff because the pattern was unbearably tedious. I’m not surprised at all that it took this long for you to finish a whole pair! ;-)

They’re so pretty, though… this is one of the few stitch patterns that really work well in an ombre colorway.

They are super cute, I’m adding them to my (real) queue.

Worth the wait though, they look great! Too bad they weren’t so much fun to knit.

    They look great!

Oooh, I like those! I think if I can deal with a whole scarf of Barbara Walker’s elongated rib check, then I can deal with those. Off to queue….

I never fault how long it could possibly take to finish a FO, especially if the love is absent.

    Nice!

I love that stitch pattern and have used it on another project, maybe I should just knit the socks too!
