B is for . . . .

RedSox

Boston Red Sox, of course.

The most wicked pissah baseball team in the history of the sport.

And lest you think I’m a fair weather fan, this ticket stub from opening day in 1979 should silence any doubters.

OpeningDay
I must have cut elementary school to go to that game. ;)

Holy cow! Only $4.75????? Great choice for “B”, by the way and I’m glad to see that your loyalty is still with the good guys. =)

You know, I’m supposed to dislike the Sox (my boyfriend is a life long yankees fan - he even loved them when they were terrible in the 80s), but I appreciate fans who stuck by them when they were terrible. I say this as someone who is a fan of the Columbus Bluejackets and the Toronto Bluejays - both of which have farm teams in my hometown.

Also…there is no better day in baseball than opening day. Not even the playoffs. (and I’ve gone to NY/Boston playoff games)

    Yaaaaaay Boston! Woohoo! :)

‘79? I’m sure it was nursery school, wasn’t it?

  5. lisa on 20 Jan 2008 at 7:10 pm

The only baseball dream I ever had… maybe in the mid 1980’s, I was living in Syracuse. The yankees must have been doing well. In the dream I said, ‘what the f*!* do I care about the yankees? I’m from Boston!’ Technically from 1/2 hour north… Hmmm, that was a thursday night, so I was probably home, but was probably out doing things I’d never want my parents to know about!

Being bad the next night that is…

Jaaaa! I’m not a huge sports fan, but the one game I can watch is baseball, and if I’m watching baseball, it’s gotta be the Red Sox!

$4.75 wow! Can you imagine how much a ticket in that seat is now? I have never been to a baseball game to watch. I played in little league when I was little.
I absolutely love that picture of your son in your last post.

    1979? Yeah, you wish. ;)

Very cool! Love the price on the ticket! Those were the days. I can remember when gas was 59 cents a gallon-Ithaca , New York Fall of ‘77. My first year in college.

  13. Kat on 20 Jan 2008 at 9:59 pm

The best “B” ever! Only 23 days to go until spring training.

  14. Carol on 21 Jan 2008 at 4:25 am

Lookie at that ticket price! Go Sox!

  15. Jocelyn on 21 Jan 2008 at 6:51 am

I had to avert my eyes! Too early to see that. If I had a blog, I’d put up a snazzy NY to combat your B :-) . Forget the Sox, GO GIANTS!

  16. deb on 21 Jan 2008 at 7:06 am

Please don’t tell anybody here in Minnesota that I LOVE the Red Sox as much as you - always have. It’s just plain herasy here. Great “B”!

  17. Jenn C. on 21 Jan 2008 at 8:33 am

Wow! back in ‘79 I was a fledgling Mets fan - I’ve grown to love the Sox in the 12 years I’ve lived in / near Boston!

  18. ponyknit on 21 Jan 2008 at 12:31 pm

Yeah Sox! I wish we could go for $4.75 now!!!

  19. Ina on 21 Jan 2008 at 1:42 pm

Great B! The ticket price really is a pissah.

  20. Lark on 22 Jan 2008 at 8:34 am

What a wicked good mutha you have, to have taken you to a ball game while in utero, and saved the ticket for you…

  21. Mary on 22 Jan 2008 at 11:09 am
