Two Hours

Remember I mentioned a while ago that I signed up for Emily’s Dishrag Tag knitting competition? Well, look what was sitting on my porch when I arrived home from work today:

Blog 013

Janine, our team captain, had packed it up with a beautiful dishcloth and an adorable sheepy magnet. I was half-way through knitting my dishcloth using one of the balls of cotton Janine sent and this pattern before I had the wherewithal to take a photo:

Two hours after I opened the box, I deposited it into the 24/7 kiosk at my neighborhood post office. I included the dishcloth I knit, two balls of cotton yarn, and a couple of little goodies for the next team member.

Now I’m off to find some ice. Knitting up an entire ball of kitchen cotton in less than 90 minutes can really make your wrists hurt. Damn.

    Holy Cow you’re fast!!!

I’m hoping when my team’s box comes to me that I’ll have a ball of multi-colored yarn to knit that same pattern with.

OMG your awesome…2 hours. I’m a slow knitter so I’ve got to whip my wrists into action and stay on it so I don’t slow down my team…UGH!
Your cloth is magnificent BTW and the one you recieved is got a great stitch, do you know the pattern?

  3. Cass on 07 Aug 2007 at 3:51 am

WOW that’s a speedy turnaround! And a gorgeous dishcloth! I forgot to take pics of mine before I sent it back out- some blogger I am! ;)

  4. Carole on 07 Aug 2007 at 3:53 am

That was fast! I got our box on Friday and knit the dish cloth that evening and sent it on Saturday morning.

Holy cow, 2 hours? That’s what I call being “fired up” about getting something done.

Awesome dishcloth, too. The next person in line is going to get quite a treat!

Dishcloth cotton is pretty hard on the hands/wrists, isn’t it? I just finished the burp rag and bib set from Mason Dixon in dishcloth cotton. While I’m happy with the results, the knitting process just wasn’t much fun. I’d much rather be working on my Koigu socks. Now, that’s lovely yarn to knit with.

The dishcloth you sent on was lovely and the recipient quite lucky!

Wow! You are so fast. Great job for you team.

  8. margene on 07 Aug 2007 at 4:50 am

Oh dear…you’re a trooper to knit that fast and hard with cotton. Take care of your arm!

  9. Gena on 07 Aug 2007 at 5:14 am

Wow! That’s fantastic! Nice pattern, by the way, I may have to try that one out.

  10. Sherry on 07 Aug 2007 at 5:16 am

I have knitted the same cloth you did and my joining looked terrible. Yours’ is great. What method did you use?

  11. lisa on 07 Aug 2007 at 5:53 am

Ouch! But you are fast! And it looks great!

i love that dishcloth pattern and the litte one that matches it! i never have a problem knitting with P&whichever cotton though.AND the trick i just learned to keep that seam neat is to leave the live stitches on the needle and kitchener it to the cast on edge. that helps.

  13. Stitch-n-Snitch on 07 Aug 2007 at 5:56 am

    The cloth looks great! ;)

Wow, that’s fast! Lovely pattern, too. I’m #9 on the routing list for my team, so I’ll be spending a few weeks admiring other people’s work before I get my chance.

  22. Annalea on 07 Aug 2007 at 8:56 am

Love that dishrag . . . I’ve seen the pattern before, but the colors really show it off. Way to go on the turnaround. That’s impressive. :o )

Now I have a hankerin’ to go find me some purpley-blue Sugar n’ Cream and knit up a round dishcloth!

  23. Wanda on 07 Aug 2007 at 8:56 am

Dang, Susan, you are unreal! That’s dedication. I received mine on Friday and got it in the mail on Saturday afternoon, but really 2 hours? I like the dish cloth you knitted too, I will have to try that soon!

  24. Kim on 07 Aug 2007 at 9:03 am

Wow! That’s fast! I really love the pattern you used too, is it free/available on the net?

  25. Corrie on 07 Aug 2007 at 11:35 am

WOW - the pattern is so cool it makes me want to stop what I’m doing and use up some of my cotton! Funny - I’ve been looking for something that would look cool w/variagated yarn, but that’s the first one I’ve seen that really does it for me!

  26. diane on 07 Aug 2007 at 2:16 pm

Susan the speed queen! Awesome job!

  27. jules on 07 Aug 2007 at 2:30 pm
