The Sock’s In The Mail — Almost
After some well-documented false starts, I finished the socks for my Sockapalooza pal this past weekend.
Here they are, tucked neatly inside the felted bag that will carry them safely on their journey west.
But you probably want to see the socks themselves, right? Here they are with all the goodies I’ll be including in the package (note cards, hand-dyed yarn, cat stickers, the bag):
My pal likes cats so I actually bought the stickers and the note cards before I even started knitting the socks. Then I saw the yarn a few weeks later and knew it was destined for the socks. See what I mean–the colors are a purrrrfect match:
Tomorrow is the mailing date and I’m crossing my fingers the 24/7 machine at the post office is operational tomorrow night. Well, and I’m also crossing my fingers the socks fit my pal!

What a purrrrrfect sock pal package.
They’re great!
EEK, is tomorrow really the mailing date? I don’t have my package ready to go yet! The socks are done, but I haven’t picked up many extras to stick in the package yet!! OH NO!
:)
Wish those sockies were coming East instead of west!!
These are great! :0) What a lucky pal you have.
They are beautiful and that’s a truly thoughtful sock package.
I love your felt bag very much, it is so cool.
The bag is way fun, but I LOVE the socks! Great job!
I don’t know what I like best, the socks or the bag, but they are both wonderful…ciao
Calico socks, cool!
You’re such a good sock pal
What a wonderful package your pal is going to receive! Lucky, lucky pal.
I love the felted bag - especially the flap. Gorgeous. What pattern did you use? Would love to know - and get my hands on it!
What a lucky sock pal you have got
I mailed mine yesterday because they have a long way to go - I tried to update the database, but the email giving me the link to do so never arrived
I bet all the sock pals in the west are full of hopeful anticipation ~ everything you’ve included is just lovely! I love this horcrux incarnation and I agree w/ Knelley; that bag, especially the flap, is just gorgeous!
You have a very lucky pal! That bag is darling.
What a great package. The bag is great. What pattern is that? Beautiful!
Pretty socks, and I love that bag! Are the flowers knit or crocheted?
I love the sock! Is that one of your own patterns? Great colors!
Wha a great package! The socks are fabulous! I know it’s been said previously but I love the bag. Is there a pattern available? You are a great Sockapalooza pal!
What a sweet wee bag!! Love it..is there a pattern?? available???
I am not sure which I like better, the socks or the bag! Your sock pal is a lucky recipient!!
That’s a great package, Susan. Even if the socks don’t fit, the rest of the goodies are plenty to make up for it. ;o)
Your title today reminded me of one of my favorite songs: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5swUCl3skGU
(The Check’s in the Mail, by Weird Al Yankovich–I don’t watch the video, just minimize the window).
Have a good one!
Dear Susan,
I keep hearing about you from multiple sources and I just live around the corner from you, so when I found out about your blog, I thought I would say hi. I’ve been told I should just come knock on your door, but I’m too shy and don’t want to bug you. I heard of you first from Caitlin and I saw the beautiful cardigan you knit for Betsy’s baby girl almost three years ago. I’m a spinner and knitter and I am actually the WWH President at the moment. I just wanted to say hi. I’m going to buy your felted bag pattern to make up for WWH’s retreat exchange next summer. I think it looks like a great pattern. Your Horcrux socks are awesome too. I love them! I wish I was more in to sock knitting, but they bog me down and it takes me a really long time to finish a pair. I absolutely love the idea of hand-knitted socks, though, and I have done several pairs. I just need more practice probably. I really enjoy your blog too.
Wow! Suhweet package! You’re pal is so lucky.
oh, and adding my request for the bag pattern to the others!! With a pretty please.
What a spaz I am, I have to correct my comment above. I meant your, not you’re. *so embarrassed*
What a lucky pal! A sweet prize for sure!
Now that is a nice package!! The bag is beautiful with the felted lacy closure - and the socks/yarn -so pretty! Very fortunate pal!!
Wow! Horcrux looks surprisingly good in variegated yarn! I’m filing that away for future reference.
Oh, man, what wonderful palooza swag! Good job.
What a great pkg! I like the bag too! Thanks for your IHS and Flickr comments-glad I figured out how to work Flickr, esp. since I’d already paid for it!
Hmmmm ~ perhaps you need a little boost to your soap stash ~
LOVE those socks and the pattern down the top of the foot is awesome. Being a newbie I need to try that for my sock swap partner..I can’t seem to get the Fawkes pattern right and your sock is perfect. I’ll give it a try with the pattern all the way down.
Thanks for always being an inspiration!
I like effect on the flap.
I think that is one of the best looking felted bags I’ve seen. Is that one of your patterns? I would really like to make that one.
Thanks.
Clever clever and wonderful bag for the socks. i love it, color and all.
Nice package! A felted bag, hand dyed yarn, and great looking sox.
Don’t you love it when things just come together so nicely? I know your pal’s gonna be thrilled, but if not she can send it to me:) The bag flap is just so grrly!
These are nice and a very exquisite package indeed. Well wouldn’t we all be lucky ….
What a great package for someone loving cats! The bag holding the socks is so sweet. You did a great job!
Hi Susan
I have not been to blogland in what seems like forever. I love the Sitcom CHic-the best I have seen yet. Do you have a pattern for those socks. I would love to knit my daughter a pair for her 18th birthday! I love your blog!
