The Name Is Revealed

See, I knew that last clue would be all you needed to guess the name of the seriatim socks.

Stitchy Fingerz was the first to guess correctly and she was followed shortly by Bonny.

And the correct answer was . . . .

Horcrux Socks

If you are a Muggle and are wondering what the heck the name means, click here and it will all make sense. Or not.
So that’s it. The name is revealed and the pattern posted. Thanks for playing along.

Oh, and before I forget. If you have some spare change and are looking to add to your knitting library, I’m going to tempt you with this:

The new edition of Sarah Don’s fabulous book, The Art of Shetland Lace, is now available from Lacis. I ordered a copy as a gift for a friend and it arrived the other day.

It’s a wonderful book, that has now been rescued from OOP status.

Thanks for republishing, Lacis!

Would you like me to set up a Horcrux Flickr Group?

My Horcrux socks *still* aren’t quite done, but the handle for my HP felted bag is done and the whole kit-n-kaboodle is ready to felt. And I’m definitely not a muggle. Today on a dog-related email list, I almost typed pureblood and mudblood instead of purebred and mixed breed. Too much HP on the brain!

BTW; i noticed the price for Sara Don’s book on amazon. i have a copy of susanna e. lewis “knitting lace”, which also sold for that sort of price not long ago, and maybe still is. however, i’m keeping mine, would even at double the price because it was a gift from my GodSister and is inscribed by her to me in a very personal way. ahh…the whims of the marketplace.

I was so puzzled by the name of these socks that I ran the clues by a friend of mine (a knitting muggle, but not an HP one) who recalled that Hermione knits. She suggested the name “Hermione’s Horcruxes”!
    Congrats to Stitchy Fingers!

I love Lacis. When I first discovered it, I was only an hour away from it. Now it’s much further and I haven’t been there in ages.

I never would have guessed, and am more excited about Sarah Don’s book! And sorely tempted…

Aha! So that little doohickey a few posts ago was the Sorting Hat! I thought it was some kind of volcano, or mountain, or something. ;-)

I have the old version of the Sarah Don book. Has anything changed?

I just finished my pair of socks from this fun pattern. I did mine in Mode Dea Sassy stripes…they are for my honey and thats what he picked out lol. I am going to make another pair but in a solid color so the pattern shows up better.

I just found out about your Horcrux Socks pattern. LOL I love them! I saw your clue about 3-1/2 pairs and 7 soles. LOL :-)

I put a link to your blog and to your Horcrux Socks pattern on my HP RAL blog (http://hpral.wordpress.com), so more people (hopefully) will find it.

    Thanks for sharing your pattern!
