The Leg
The leg of this sock is simple to work with the exception of Round 15. So pay attention.
eor= end of rnd
Note: On Rnd 15, the beg of the rnd temporarily shifts 1 st to the left.
Rnd 1: *k3, k2tog, yo; repeat from * to eor.
Rnd 2 and all even Rnds: Knit all sts.
Rnd 3: *k2, k2tog, yo, k1; repeat from * to eor.
Rnd 5: *k1, k2tog, yo, k2; repeat from * to eor.
Rnd 7: * k2tog, yo, k3; repeat from * to eor.
Rnd 9: * k1, yo, ssk, k2; repeat from * to eor.
Rnd 11: * k2, yo, ssk, k1; repeat from * to eor.
Rnd 13: *k3, yo, ssk; repeat from * to eor.
Rnd 15: k1, *k3, yo, ssk; repeat from * to eor. At the end of the rnd, it will be necessary to “borrow†the first st from Rnd 16 to work the last ssk. Once you have completed Rnd 16, move the st created by that last ssk back to the left ndl.
Rnd 17: sl 1 (the last ssk from Rnd 15), k2, k2tog, yo, *k3, k2tog, yo; repeat from * to eor.
Rnd 19: *k2, k2tog, yo, k1; repeat from * to eor.
Rnd 21: *k1, k2tog, yo, k2; repeat from * to eor.
Rnd 23: * k2tog, yo, k3; repeat from * to eor.
Rnd 24: Knit all sts.
Rnds 25-29: *k3, p2; repeat from * to eor.
When you’re finished, your sock-in-progress should look like this (unless one of us has made a mistake):
Rest up; on Friday we tackle the heel.
Bloglines Update: Not only are my subscribers not showing up, but now my feed is not updating. I received the following email from Bloglines in response to my somewhat frantic message to them:

There isn’t a problem with your ping services. Please note that the updated content is available if you click the “display all” button in the right-hand pane. All your subscribers are there now (and you grew!) but no ping, as yet.
Thanks! This is great fun

Good thing Margene has your back! Excellent sock. I love it that it’s worsted. I should join in and knit a pair.
years and years ago,at the county fair, my mother would go down the giant zigzag slide with my kidz. i think she used the kidz as a ruse, don’t you?
this sock reminds me of that. can’t wait to get the name. (and my ping)
Lovely pattern – thanks! But grrrrrrr about bloglines – I know how frustrating that is… and how much effect it has on visitor numbers.
I’m behind the times because of Bloglines, sigh. But I love this sock idea of yours!
Once I catch up on the older posts and figure out if I can still play along, I’ll ransack the stash for something appropriate.
I am so excited in knitting this pattern! It is for my little niece’s Valentine’s present.
=:8
I ‘think’ I signed up yesterday…came over via Dianne’s blog, this is a great sock pattern and will be catching up on it asap!
Kimberly, how big/small is your ‘little’ niece? These are going to be a very good sized pair of socks….
Susan, thank you.
I’ve already updated my Yahoo! feed and also my Bloglines – you’re there! Thanks for such a fun series!
What a great sock! I saw your patterns at KP’s too.
The worsted is knitting up beautifully!!Thank you Susan!!
OK – I’m all caught up. And it’s knit in purple of course.
Hi Susan,
I just posted a picture of a pair of Almost Argyle socks I made from your pattern. It’s on the SAM3 KAL blog. I praised your pattern for all to see! I really enjoyed it. Thanks for writing such clear and understandable patterns!
As for your new blog, I also miss the 3 red socks on the top. I don’t really understand about subscribing to blog feeds, but I signed up since you wanted us to. I just visit your blog every day to check for new posts.
Nice socks for the Koigu I just bought! As for the feeds, those who love you will find you regardless…cheers….
We have Margene reminding us to come over here. Thank goodness Bloglines likes her.
I saw Beth’s sock and headed right over. Your pattern is wonderful. I must dig up some yarn and cast on!
Your bloglines feed updated– 15 posts!
Love the sock so far!
Yay! Your feed showed up in my Bloglines!
Wow – now you have 1,150 subscribers so it must have finally all come together! I’m going to look for worsted weight yarn – The sock is beautiful!
You’re up!!!
i finished row 15 just as the movie i was watching ended. “The Man Who Would Be King” , because Michael Caine is brilliant and beautiful. why he wasn’t cast as Dumbledore i just don’t know. anyroad, your pattern is also brilliant and beautiful, and easy!
a question though, what yarn would we use if we wanted these to be shoe socks instead of bed socks? i’ve never had much luck with worsted weight yarn as socks, the heels wear through so easy.
Just came through on Bloglines! YEAH!!!
I’m having a good time knitting this sock… once I got the pattern going after a number of attempts that needed some tinking. I kept losing a stitch. Finally got it and it sped right along!
You can check out my progress on my blog.
OK, so someone must have already told you this but anyway your feed just updated on my Bloglines list with FIFTEEN new posts. Yeah. I have some catching up to so…
Bloglines sent me.
Finally!
Thanks for the pattern, I’ve been looking for a thick sock pattern for a while, this fits the bill perfectly.
I’m having issues with bloglines myself, it’s very frustrating as I just started a small charity project and no one knows about it because bloglines won’t show I have new possts!
Well, you finally showed up in my bloglines again! Yay!
Yeah, I’m receiving your updates to bloglines! Socks are looking great, and the new blog home too.
I missed yesterday, but today Bloglines says you have 1,150 subscribers… and this is the top post. Hope that means things are finally on track!
YAY! Your listing in my Bloglines list reported (15) NEW POSTS today!! I hope all the kinks are worked out now.
Love the pattern so far. ; )
Bloglines has been having tons of problems lately. Either they don’t pick up a feed or they pick up all of your old posts too. Hopefully they will resolve it soon.
I am having a hard time with the yo ssk can someone help me please
what size needles did most find worked for the socks
have you used 11″ circular needles for socks? if so, are they hard to use?
I just wanted to say that I’m making the regular Horcrux socks in blue for a friend of mine’s birthday (because she’s sort of a Ravenclaw kind of girl) and for me I’m making the worsted weight Horcrux Socks for myself for the opening of THE HALF-BLOODED PRINCE. I found both patterns on Ravelry and am not only giving you the full credit you deserve but will post pictures as soon as I’ve finished both pairs. I just wanted to say thank you for sharing such an awesome pattern.
