Sole Survivor

Ever have one of those weekends where you frog all the projects you start?

I have two balls of Cleckheaton Gusto 10 that I had earmarked for a scarf for the Red Scarf Project.

Gusto

I found a pattern called Misti Chunky Ribs & Ruffles Scarf while searching Ravelry and it seemed perfect for the yarn. I cast on, eliminating the ruffle to make it unisex.

Alas, after I’d knit up the entire first skein I realized I didn’t have enough yarn to make a scarf that would come even close to being a decent length. So, into the frog pond it went.

I switched gears (and gauges) and dug some lovely Nashua June yarn out of my stash.

June

My daughter has been bugging me to knit her the Summertime Tunic from the Summer 2007 issue of Interweave Knits. If I worked quickly, I could have it finished and ready to be worn the first week of school.

I was almost through an entire skein of June before I realized it was going to be way too big for her.

So it joined the red scarf in the frog pond.

Did anything survive the weekend knitting debacle?

Yes, this lowly dishcloth was started and finished on Saturday.

But I promptly gave it away as a hostess gift on Saturday night.

A full weekend of knitting and nothing to show for it. *hrumpf*

YES!! I totally understand how you feel! I did the same thing this weekend…I hereby declare it to be the Froggy weekend! :)

    Hugs,

I frogged a baby kimono and made a wash cloth instead!

  3. Beth on 12 Aug 2007 at 7:19 pm

Nothing frogged here. No progress on anything either.

  4. Marcia on 12 Aug 2007 at 7:43 pm

And, that is how the Universe keeps us from getting too full of ourselves! At least you got a dishcloth done!

    Some projects are like that!!

    Like the dishcloth.

I’m frogging the second sockapalooza sock past the heel (don’t ask). But I love the dishcloth pattern. What is it?

  7. Ellene on 12 Aug 2007 at 11:06 pm

Glad to know I’m not the only one who has weekends like that!

  8. Bonny on 13 Aug 2007 at 3:11 am

You say lowly, I say lovely!

  9. Debi on 13 Aug 2007 at 4:00 am

I was frogging like crazy too. In fact one of my socks ended up in the trash! Hope this week’s better :)

It must have been something in the air. I was having similar problems. I hope you only have Knice Knitting this week. Happy knitting.

Frog Pond Weekend…I didn’t even get a few minutes to knit…and I’m with Bonny, I think your washcloth is lovely.

I think it must be catching! :-)

I made a whole Coachella this week knittign furiously on the beach. Tried it on – hated it on me and frogged it on Sunday. The yarn is now on the way to being a Red Carpet Convertible corset top.

We all have days like that. The dishcloth is pretty though. Chin up, you don’t have too many of those weekends! Not that I read about anyway.

I had the same type of weekend. I think I did gauge swatches for about 5 new projects and didn’t like the way the yarn looked in any of them. All of them frogged. Frustrating as I’m feeling the urge to start something new and BIG!

  15. Stephanie on 13 Aug 2007 at 6:46 am

Well. That’s certainly how I make progress.

I knitted one of those washcloths this weekend, after seeing the one you made for dish rag tag. I love that pattern! I’m still waiting for my turn at tag.

  17. Annalea on 13 Aug 2007 at 7:50 am

Isn’t that frustrating? At least you did get to knit . . . that’s what I keep telling myself as I start project after project, only to find that there’s something horribly wrong with all of them . . .

Someday, I’ll actually finish something. ;)

  18. elizabeth on 13 Aug 2007 at 7:51 am

Yes, I do have those weekends. I hope the sweater I cast on yesterday won’t join your projects in the pond!

  19. lisa on 13 Aug 2007 at 7:54 am

Just keep telling yourself ‘it’s the PROCESS’ (yeah, but it is nice to get what you wanted…)

OMG. May your week be full of FOs!

  21. Donna B. on 13 Aug 2007 at 8:49 pm

I totally made one of those dishcloths this week too, after seeing the one you made in two hours (!). It took me a little longer — like probably three times as long. I don’t think it’s the DRT pattern for me — too many wedges. But I love it nonetheless, and I’m in your debt for introducing me to it. Short row dishcloths forever!

  22. Romi on 13 Aug 2007 at 10:03 pm

Hee. I just frogged my stuff too. :)

  23. SusanKnits on 14 Aug 2007 at 8:02 pm

I’ve had weekends like that, but I don’t always have the nerve to frog things — I leave them in plain sight so that I can feel really guilty in stead. I love the wash cloth, though.

  24. sandra on 14 Aug 2007 at 10:04 pm

Yep, had a few of those days myself! But…. the dishcloth is VERY pretty :-)

  25. Tan on 14 Aug 2007 at 11:45 pm

At least you have a photo of the dishcloth.

  26. Gwen on 15 Aug 2007 at 7:03 am

I cannot believe the timing. This is indeed the yarn I’m looking for!!!!

  27. kyle on 15 Aug 2007 at 12:51 pm

OK the “FROGGED!” stamp cracked me up :) – it’s sad to say goodbye to projects gone awry, but sometimes it’s best…

hehe thanks for making me laugh-
