Sock Talk
All the facets of my sock world seem to have converged this past week.
Although I love to knit lace, socks remain my favorite knitting projects. Which is why you’re probably surprised to learn that I’ve never joined the Sockapalooza swaps. Well, until this round.
Yup, I gave in to a moment of weakness and signed up for Sockapalooza Round 4. TheĀ person who is knitting for me left a comment on the blog yesterday. How fun!
I’ve been in touch with the person for whom I’m knitting and I think I’ve got a great idea for her socks. I plan to base them on this design I recently did for Knit Picks.

I think I’ll change the colorwork pattern to suit my pal’s special interests, but I’ll otherwise keep the design the same.
Knit Picks just offered another of my designs for sale; the slip stitch socks I briefly mentioned on the blog last January:
Instructions on how to knit both versions are in the same pattern. One uses two colors and the other three colors but both use the exact same stitch pattern. Crazy different, huh.
And if all this sock fun wasn’t enough . . . there’s more.
I noticed Amazon is now accepting preorders for this book that contains two of my designs. Well, I assume the book contains the designs since I received yarn, knit socks which I returned to Vogue/SoHo Publishing, and received a check in return. But I guess I’m not 100% sure.
I’m actually pretty excited about this book. I think it will be a great sock-knitting resource.

Ooh, let me be the first to say that whoever has you for their knitter is lucky. I will have to treat myself to the new sock book to get some more of your patterns.
I just love it when I can say to my friends, “See these socks? I know the designer!” I’ll definitely get the book, but will not ever preorder from Amazon again! Congrats!
Great socks! I’m looking forward to the book, too. How cool.
congrats! that’s very cool to be a published designer.
btw, i wanted to mention that i used your soap sock pattern a while back. turned out great.

Nice socks! It’s funny, so many bloggers I “read” are doing Sockapalooza, it makes me wonder if I will see *my* socks in progress… Your pal is certainly lucky!
I’m a first time Sockapalooza-er myself and can’t wait! Socks are quickly becoming my favourite project
Your designs are always fabulous, Susan. Can’t wait to see the book.
A wondered about that book a couple of days ago. Good job all around!!
Glad you’ve jumped in the Sockapalooza pool! I’m looking forward to seeing your sock. Also to checking out the book. (I assume there’s a story behind the uncertainty.)
The difference in the slip stitch pattern is amazing - I’m agog.
i’m proud of ya!
Cool socks. I love both those Knitpicks socks.
Congratulations on the Vogue book too. I have your Horacrux socks in my line up and have been following all the ones done on the Six Socks KAL. They look great.
Oh congrats! Hopefully your patterns will be in there and it will (as usual) be a smashing success!
Oh, I love that first pattern! I haven’t seen it yet! Reminds me a little of NB’s Canada sock from KOTR. Lovely colors you used. Nearly makes me want to get some of that tweedy yarn to dye! It’s cool that you’re in S’pooza. With 1000+ participants I’m convinced there’s no possible way I could get matched with someone I know in either direction. It makes me realize that my view of the knit blogging world is very small.
Congratulations on all the published sock patterns!!! Your patterns are fantastic and I’m glad everyone else ses that too! Knit on!
How exciting–another sock book! And with some of your patterns in it, hopefully! This is great news.
I don’t subscribe to Vogue and very rarely buy an issue on the newsstand, so almost everything in it will be new to me. Cool.
Your socks are indeed in it (I’m certain about at least one pair–there are lots of patterns, and I didn’t keep track of the designers on each). I was lucky enough to get an editing assignment on that book, which is terrific. I think experienced and inexperienced sock knitters will find a lot to like in that book.
I really like the slip stitch pattern you’ve included in this post. I have only made about a half-dozen pairs of socks (I’m mostly a sweater knitter), and so I’ve been wondering how one might accomplish slip stitch in the round (I’ve only done it flat, so far). My next Knit Picks order will include that pattern.
Those socks are too cool! I love the three color one.
