Round Up
Here are the remaining photos I’m willing to share from the whirlwind weekend. Actually, I’m only holding back one photo and Carole knows why. Naughty, naughty, Carole.
After I picked Terry and Kim up at the airport, I took them to The Red Iguana, a Mexican restaurant that’s a Salt Lake institution. I think I messed up by suggesting that Terry order a mole dish. It was a bit spicy by wimpy, east-coast standards but she was a good sport as she subtly wiped the sweat from her brow during the meal.
After lunch, we stopped off at Temple Square and wandered through the gardens and into the Tabernacle. Here’s Kim and Terry inside the Tabernacle plotting an infiltration of the Morman Tabernacle Choir.
Then, we met up with Carole and Margene at Black Sheep Wool Co. We cajoled Terry into modeling Anne Carroll Gilmour’s latest creation–a felted witch hat she designed just in time for Halloween.
Then Margene and Carole had a turn.
Think how awesome this hat would look worn on top of a Hallowig. You can order a copy of the pattern by calling the shop (801-487-9378). I know you want one. I got mine from Anne on Monday, together with a plastic cone to block the finished hat and the wire for the brim.
Here’s one of my favorite photos from the weekend — Kim modeling the original Bee Stole which now resides in Salt Lake with Anne, the proprietress of Wooly Wonka Fibers.
And one parting shot of most of the group, taken in the waning hours of the festival.

I love a group of women who know how to have fun! And Carole - well, I’m having a lot of fun imagining what she did.
Oh how I miss them! It was so much fun to spend time with you and the NE grrls, too. I love the picture of Terry and Kim in the Tabchoir.
What fun! But, but, but….I don’t see any shopping bags!
I’m glad that everyone is posting about the weekend, it is bringing it all back. We had a blast. I can’t thank you enough. I am not so good at portraying these fun times on my blog, you are all doing a better job than I.
I loved the Mole. I have been looking up recipes and am thinking I will make a “fake” mole, leaving out about half the chile peppers. But we all need to eat food that makes us sweat every now and again.
See you in a month!
Looks like a great time and now I think I need that hat pattern too!
What a great time and love the group photo!
Great photos!
Gosh - it looks like so much fun. I LOVE the felted witch’s hat. Thanks for sharing. What a clever concept for a hat. Hehehe.
I love seeing these photos again! I thought you said that naughty photo of me wasn’t all that naughty? LOL
Oh No, not OUR Carole. So quiet, so sweet, so demure. Wait… WHO?!?
Well, if you guys are wearing those hats to R’beck, I guess I’ll have to go after all!
Lovely photos… your area is so special to me from my visits and I love getting to see the glimpses from you and Margene; not sure I would fit in back there, but it sure is nice to visit.
Sounds like you all had a wonderful time. Yea for fairs and knitting and fiber and good friends who like all three! Have fun with that hat.
looks like fun!
As soon as I saw that first photo I knew it was the Red Iguana! It’s hard to beat the food there, especially right after the airport.I grew up in Ogden and now when I fly home to visit I almost always stop on the way home.
I’m not sure - does jealousy actually come through on comments or is it something you have to see or hear? Wow - what fun you all had together!
Looks like so much fun!! You’re making my mouth water for the Red Iguana though. I know where I’m stopping for lunch in December.
You ladies know how to have a good time, that’s for sure.
I already have the triangular bee shawl pattern, but now I’m thinking I need the rectangle too… it’s so pretty!
honest to god, I’m misting up. I wish I could have spent more time with y’all.
What perfect pictures!!! The picture of Margene and Carole is priceless….I just love it. I so miss you guys!!!!
Thanks for that group photo. I like putting faces with names.
It also made me happy to see Margene a head taller than the rest of you after I had the same experience when I stood next to Stephanie Pearl-McPhee with my group of pals for our photo at her Seattle stop.
What nice photos of you girls! Looks like a great time was had by all!
what fun photos - especially the one of Margene and Carole modeling those outrageous hats.
Wow, Margene makes a GREAT witch! So glad you all had such a great time — it shows!
Hmmmmm…. I’m wondering how naughty Carole was! Have you made one of the hallowigs? They are one of the first things I saw when I ventured online about knitting!
Oh, what FUN! Thanks for the pictures. But what I wouldn’t give to weasel that picture of Carole out of you!
:D
xo
Clearly, too much fun was being had. There is something scary about that much hilarity unfueled by two carbon fragment beverages. Yeah, you know what I mean.
You northern girls sure know how to have a good time! Love the hat!
Susan: I’m nicking your final photoshopped (with names) photo for my blog tomorrow. I’m not asking; I’m telling. Heehee. XOXO
ok, I have been successfully resisting the urge to dye for three years now. totally happy just to buy my yarn all pretty, skeined and colored, wrapped in a band. but then you show us this turmeric yarn. damn. I have to get some yarn and turmeric.
