RIP

For those of you, like me, who haunted the DeStash Blog for tasty fibery treats, I regret to announce that Teri and I have decided to delete the blog. The decision was based on a number of factors, not the least of which is that Blogger appears to be incapable of handling a blog with nearly 500 members. Of course, I don’t fault Google/Blogger for that — the service is free after all. But it made managing the DeStash Blog a little bit of a nightmare.

So, thanks to all of you who supported the DeStash site, especially those members who I never really interacted with because you followed the rules and guidelines. And a special thanks to those who destashed all the fabulous stuff I picked up for a song.
*sniff, sniff*

On the positive side, I’m looking forward to destashing on Ravelry when that function is fully operational.  Yay, Ravelry.

I’ve never bought, sold or even registered for your destash blog, but I want to thank you for all your hard work. I totally enjoyed keeping an eye on what people didn’t need anymore, what was snapped up in a minute and what was reposted. As moderators I’m certain there was a lot of work, effort and sweat, tears and blood, as well as yarn and other goodness, and I want to say thank you for taking of your precious time!

    Have a wonderful weekend!

I bought a pair of hand carders on the DeStash blog. Fond memories. :)

Thanks to both of you for your hard work - my transactions were few, but pleasant!

I’m sorry to hear that the Destash blog is going, but I completely understand. Have you thought of switching over to a Google group, or something that’s designed to handle more members? I guess, though, if Ravelry is set up for that kind of thing, then it would probably be best. I would love it if they’d hurry up already and get that going . . . or make a few more invitations for beta testers. :o )

Thanks for all your work with the DeStash site–I had good luck on both sides, buying and selling!

I’m sorry to see the blog go. I did sell a lot of excess stash there and always had a good experience, but I understand the headaches. Thanks for giving it a try in the first place.

I’m sad. But I get it. I’m sure it was the great button that made it so successful.

Susan - Thanks for hosting Destash. I really enjoyed it, as my bank account will atest. Maybe now instead of lurking there I’ll get a bit more knitting done, eh? Tree

Thanks for making the destash blog possible — and for all the work that made it possible. I was an obsessive haunter of the blog, sold some stuff, got some great bargains and while I will miss it, I completely get how out of hand it got and am really glad that it was around at all!

You can destash on Ravelry? Oooh boy.

    Thanks again!

Ditto here. I really appreciate all the work you did and my transactions (though few) were always successful.

    Thanks!

I’m sorry to see this news! I just came back from several days away and eagerly logged on for my usual treat. I was a recent addict (found the site through Grumperina’s button) and I looked at it all the time, both buying and just savoring the yarns on display. It’s always a shame when something falls apart because too many people want it, not too few.

Eager to see any subsequent incarnations! Best of luck!
