With the blue and grey yarn there – are you admitting that you’d be in Ravenclaw? Because you so totally would.

Well, I wound my yarn (Opal Smoke #1654 – mainly bues, greens and gray) and cast on 2s2c. We were driving up to Santa Rosa this morning so I had to have some car knitting to cover a couple of hours round-trip. I’m nearly done with the ribbing now that we are back home, so the fun part of the pattern comes next! Thanks again …. I gotta go knit now!

Oh, I do have a question. If we knit the pattern as written, how long is the leg portion before starting the heel flap? For example, I normally start the heel flap after knitting the leg for 7 inches. If I wanted to still have a 7 inch leg but keep the integrity of the horcrux zig-zag, I could lengthen the 3×2 ribbing at the top. I just read over on the Six Sox KAL that Debra Chinn plans to do 4 inches of ribbing before starting the zig-zag. That sounds really good to me, so now I’m not almost done with the ribbing after all! Back to knitting …..

It’s a great sock pattern. I was so thrilled to see that you were the designer. It’s the first SSK that has caught my eye in awhile. Thanks! Now I have to go look through my stash and see what yarn is worthy of the Horcrux Sox!

Thanks so much for your generous sharing. After much searching for worsted weight that is deserving of your original pattern, and being a bit too lazy to convert this to fingering weight myself, I’ll have this version on the needles as soon as I’m approved. Many thanks!

    That’s pretty snazzy–

I’ve got 175 sts on my Forest Canopy needles; moving right along!

Thanks for publishing the link to SSK. I think I’ll make the WW Horcrux first and then I’m on to the Forest Canopy shawl! I need more TIME to knit!!!
