Guessing Game

I’m back from my quickie vacation but I’m wading through a sea of emails and I didn’t knit a single stitch on the trip so I’ve got nothing knit-related to show you. Instead, I’ll hold an impromptu contest.

If you can guess where these two photos were taken (click to make them larger), you can win a copy of my Spring Things Shawl pattern (or any pattern you like).

I’ll pick a winner from all the correct answers. If no one guesses both locations, I’ll pick from those who identify at least one correctly.  How’s that sound.

    San Diego and Mexico

  2. cathy goldman on 09 Apr 2007 at 9:54 am

Looks like a baseball field to me…and a very pretty one…..I like the idea of Mexico as well….

  3. Kim on 09 Apr 2007 at 10:02 am

The Anaheim Angels Stadium in LA?

  4. Carole on 09 Apr 2007 at 10:04 am

Beats me. You went to a ballgame in the desert?

  5. Kim on 09 Apr 2007 at 10:06 am

    And the Fullerton Arboretum?

  6. Crafting Jen on 09 Apr 2007 at 10:10 am

The one on the left is Angels Stadium in Anaheim. Not sure about the one on the right.

  7. dobarah on 09 Apr 2007 at 10:11 am

First, you had a great time at Coors Stadium, then, since I’m on the baseball theme, I will imagine that you continued on to Tuscon, AZ to view the Cactus League Colorado Rockies Spring Training. Even if I”m wrong, I bet I”m right that you have fun!

  8. kelpkim on 09 Apr 2007 at 10:13 am

yes, the Angels Stadium (like Kim said) but is the cacti from The Huntington in Pasadena?
glad you had a good time on your mini-trip! :o )

  9. Crafting Jen on 09 Apr 2007 at 10:14 am

Okay, after a little further study, I’m amending my answer. Angels Stadium in Anaheim, and the Succulent Gardens at Fullerton Arboretum.

  10. Rosa on 09 Apr 2007 at 10:28 am

I am going to say Angels Stadium in Anaheim. I am going to say Disneyland because I don’t know of anything else. Good luck to all. And I hope you had a great vacation.

  11. karen w on 09 Apr 2007 at 10:32 am

Definitely Edison Stadium in Anaheim, home of the Angels, and *possibly* a succulent garden at Disneyland?
    Looks like fun!

  12. Bear Knits on 09 Apr 2007 at 10:34 am

Anaheim Stadium and desert (CA or AZ).

  13. Karen on 09 Apr 2007 at 10:40 am

The stadium is CA. Anaheim I’ll guess. The second must be somewhere in that area. Maybe at Disneyland.

  14. Cindy in Oregon on 09 Apr 2007 at 10:44 am

Looks like you got a chance to see some baseball on your trip. I thought maybe spring training in Arizona, but then realized the season has already started, so I’ll go with the pack and say you were in Anaheim. Which means the cacti are either at Disneyland or some other attraction in the area. Judging from the wall behind them, they are cultivated rather than ‘natural’.

Hope you had a great time. Would LOVE a copy of that shawl pattern. :)

  15. Cayli on 09 Apr 2007 at 11:07 am

Angels stadium and Huntington Botanical Gardens. Worth a guess.

  16. Kate on 09 Apr 2007 at 11:08 am

You are in the desert, because I see cactus…
but honestly, I have no idea….

  17. Kate/Massachusetts on 09 Apr 2007 at 11:28 am

    Phoenix / San Diego??

  18. Beth on 09 Apr 2007 at 11:37 am

Oh man! If you went to Disneyland, I’m seriously jealous.

  19. Judy H. on 09 Apr 2007 at 12:03 pm

Anaheim Angels Stadium, and the cactus garden at the Getty Center. :)

  20. LoriG on 09 Apr 2007 at 12:06 pm

    1. Definitely Anaheim Stadium (taken from upper deck (probably View section) looking at the family section and the fountains (and the spot where the fireworks go off – putting that so close to the family section nearly caused my son to lose all interest in baseball at his first game).

    2. Definitely the Fullerton Arboretom just across from the Children’s Garden area.

Can you tell that I live in Orange County?

  21. Kat on 09 Apr 2007 at 12:13 pm

The stadium is the Angels Stadium in Anaheim, and I’m guessing that the cacti are in the Cacti Garden of the Anaheim City Park.

  22. Nancy on 09 Apr 2007 at 12:52 pm

The first picture is from Angel Stadium in Anaheim, California. I’m not so sure about the second picture, so I will guess Huntington Gardens in San Marino, California.

  23. Dave on 09 Apr 2007 at 12:57 pm

    A ballpark and a garden. :-)

  24. Terri P. on 09 Apr 2007 at 2:19 pm

The first is definitely Angel Stadium in Anaheim. I’m guessing the second is the Fullerton Arboretum, but just a guess. Sounds like a great trip to me!

  25. Laura on 09 Apr 2007 at 2:24 pm

Angel Stadium of Anaheim and Fullerton Arboretom .

  26. Kate on 09 Apr 2007 at 2:35 pm

    Angels stadium and the Getty?

  27. Lisa on 09 Apr 2007 at 2:38 pm

Anaheim Angels Stadium and some garden with cacti – since I have absolutely no idea as to the second one, I’ll just throw out California Adventure at Disney.

  28. ~Kristie on 09 Apr 2007 at 2:49 pm

This probably isn’t fair for me to take a guess since I live near both, but since I LOVE your patterns, I have to play along

    #1 – Angel Stadium
    #2 – Fullerton Arboretum

  29. Kathy on 09 Apr 2007 at 4:32 pm

    Sea World in San Diego?

  30. Lori on 09 Apr 2007 at 6:09 pm

Angel Stadium in Anaheim and cactus at the Fullerton Arboretom. That’s the guess from an Orange County native (now transplanted in Utah).

  31. Susan Claudino on 09 Apr 2007 at 6:22 pm

The first is Angels Stadium in Anaheim and the second is The Getty Museum. ?????

    *Fingers crossed! ;)

  32. Alarming Female on 09 Apr 2007 at 6:33 pm

desert. . .hmm. . .probably Egypt. Yep, definitely Egypt. Or someplace really far away—like Egypt,

  33. Tracy on 09 Apr 2007 at 7:32 pm

The first photo is of Edison Field. It use to be called The Big A…it’s the Angels’s home field in Anaheim.

I have no clue where the second photo is from, all I know is we don’t have anything like that here in Illinios!! LOL

I don’t think it would be fair to just “steal” someone else’s answer. (I bet the people who are saying the Fullerton Arboretum are prob’ly right cuz a ballgame and a stroll through an arboretum sounds like a lovely vacation!)

  34. Heather Joins The Round on 09 Apr 2007 at 7:36 pm

Did you go to Spring Training in Arizona? And is the second picture some nice landscaping outside your hotel window?

  35. Kim on 09 Apr 2007 at 8:18 pm

Oooh, if the one on the left is Angel Stadium in Anaheim, I went there once as a kid & saw Rod Carew hit a homer outta da park.

As for the photo on the right—somewhere in Nevada??

  36. Kim on 09 Apr 2007 at 8:21 pm

Alarming Female’s answer is cracking me up….she’s a kick, that gal. ;)

P.S. I really want to win, and could have copied the “Fullerton Arboretum” answer, but I’ve got family in Fullerton, and honestly have never heard of the Arboretum. We did, however, used to go watch the Rams practice at Cal State Fullerton. Is THAT where the photo was taken, hmmm?

  37. Kelly on 09 Apr 2007 at 10:34 pm

The Arboretum and an Angels game! I’m VERY jealous about the Angels game, especially if it was during the A’s series!! Hey batta batta batta. . . suWING!

  38. Sarah hB on 10 Apr 2007 at 5:47 am

Tempe Diablo stadium in Tempe Arizona….CA Angels spring training camp.

OR Anaheim! Where they actually play.

  39. Ina on 10 Apr 2007 at 6:36 am

    1. From the visual clues in the photo, an Anaheim Angels home game. I *thought* the area around the stadium is more built up than appears in the photo, but oh well.

    2. No idea. Someplace landscaped, maybe in the hills. Are the specimen plants Euphorbia and Aloe?

  40. marie in florida on 10 Apr 2007 at 7:38 am

    didn’t knit a single stitch?
    huh?

  41. Marlana on 10 Apr 2007 at 8:21 am

The beautiful stadium of the Anaheim Angels and Fullerton Arboretum. Do elaborate on your visit, please!?

  42. Mary on 10 Apr 2007 at 8:24 am

    Angels Stadium, Anaheim
    Getty Museum, LA

  43. Julia on 10 Apr 2007 at 9:12 am

Well, the Angel’s Anaheim Stadium is a big duh, but the other has me stumped. I figure it’s in a Botanical Garden, but there are several possibilities. It could be the Getty, maybe it’s of one of these boxes?

I heart the Spring Things Shawl pattern.

  44. Kim on 10 Apr 2007 at 10:56 am

Angels stadium in Anaheim. The other ? Well, I’d have to agree with the previous commenter, but I’d be copying then.

  45. Jennifer on 10 Apr 2007 at 11:07 am

My dad helped me out on the stadium. This is the stadium in Anaheim which is the current home of the “Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim”. Yes that mouthful is their true and correct name. The stadium name is “Angel Stadium of Anaheim”.

    Succulent Gardens at Fullerton Arboretum

  46. gail on 10 Apr 2007 at 7:05 pm

Don’t know where the photos are from, but definitely someplace warmer than our spring break destination! At least I got to see the yarn harlot!!

  47. annette on 12 Sep 2007 at 4:19 pm

did anyone get both, ANAHEIM AND TEMPE NEAR DIABLO STADIUM DURUNG SPRING TRAINING.
