Got Roving?
Warning to those with slow Internet connections: This post contains lots of photos.
Before I come clean and show you photos of all the roving I recently acquired from Amy, I thought I’d show you the Lotus Purse I knit today.
This is my second Lotus Purse from the same two balls of yarn. As you can see, I came pretty dang close to running out of the Lion Brand Trellis. *phew*
I added a little tassel to this one just to mix it up a bit.
If anyone makes this little purse, there’s a error in the pattern. Row 26 reads: “Sl 1, knit to end of row.” It should read: “Sl 1, k27, p1.” But you would probably figure that out on your own. Also, the buttonhole isn’t centered. I’m not sure if the instructions are written that way on purpose or not. I used a one-row buttonhole worked over 3 sts (not 2 sts as called for in the pattern).
Now the yarn and roving. I’ll let the photos speak for themselves.
100 grams of yummy Maine Sock yarn in the Leaf Peep colorway:
8 ounces of wool blend roving in the “Road Trip” colorway:

8 ounces of wool blend roving in the “Big Valley” colorway:
8 ounces of BFL in the “Sangria” colorway:

And here’s 8 ounces of BFL in “Utah Sunrise,” a colorway Amy dyed especially for me.
And, last but not least, a huge pile ‘o roving just waiting to be paired with some of my own dyes.
I think I need a larger house.

Wow, thank you for the eye candy! I love the purse with the tassle. Can’t wait to see what you spin with the various rovings and what your dye project results are.
I too need a bigger house.
I don’t know–I think that Big Valley looks a little “pedestrian” for your tastes. . .might have to pass it along to me!
Amy’s stuff is wonderful. It’s good that roving is so squishy.
Thanks for the eye candy – I have a cupboard full of Amy’s roving just waiting to be spun. So much so that I have had to go and buy myself a wheel:-)- well that’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it
Leaf Peep is gorgeous! And I’m envious of all your colorful, fluffy stuff!
Wow! 8 oz. of those will make for a lot of spinning. I think my favorite is the Utah Sunrise. Do that one first!
Wow! You definitely got a great haul. That’ll all be fun to spin up. Better get the wheels oiled up and rollin’.
while the pictures loaded i was expecting “leaf peep” to be leaf greens and marshmallow peeps yellow…LOL..
Looks like your wheel is going to be mighty busy! Gorgeous stuff. I think I need to get off my duff and order some roving from Amy.
Slurp! I’m SO enjoying the new high speed at times like this. Loved the rovings…what are they destined for?
I was drooling over that roving last week and wondering what the wool blend was like. Can’t wait to see how it spins up!
I have been lurking, but that little purse made me stop. It is perfect for summer or anytime. I can see your dye pot and wheel are going to be happy with your visiting!
(drool…)
) and Leaf Peep looks awesome! can’t wait to see it knit up!
yum! i really like that Utah colorway she did for you. and i can’t wait to see what you dye the undyed roving!
What great finds! I think I like Utah Sunrise best… now, about that bigger house – with teens underfoot, maybe you just want to ship them off to college early and take over their rooms:)
The leaf peep yarn is amazing!
Thanks for all the great pics.
Really like the little purse. I bought a bunch of Berocco Yoga on impulse and this looks like the perfect use for it. thanks!
Love the eye candy. All of the rovings are just beautiful. I don’t have a favorite, I like them all! Motivates me to get the wheel out and start spinning. I bought the Forest Canopy shoulder shawl pattern. I’ve been wanting to make a lace shawl. I really wanted the Spring shawl pattern, but I’ll start out simple. I’m a sock knitter. I got your site from someone on the TownsendKnitALong.
