Clue No. 2
Anyone finish knitting the “seriatim” socks??
I see Pat finished hers. I love them in red.
I thought about creating a Flickr album so everyone could upload photos of their finished socks together with information about yarn and needles but, frankly, I have no idea how to do it. So unless some Flickr-friendly reader takes pity on me, just post links to your photos in the comments.
No one has guessed the name of the pattern yet, so here’s Clue #2 (Clue #1 was in Thursday’s post). This clue is visual:

Any guesses??
While you’ve all been knitting your socks, I’ve been knitting . . . um, not much. Things have been a bit unsettled in my neck of the woods this last week and even knitting cannot keep my mind off recent events. I’d like to say I’ve been spinnning instead but, alas, sudden and unexplained lower back pain has put the kibosh on that.
But, I did do a little shopping on Saturday. DH and I drove down South to check out a new restaurant and I couldn’t resist poking my head into a JoAnn Fabric Superstore. Yikes! That place is b-i-g!
I got a fabulous stitch pattern book I’ve been eyeing for a while:
I found this little beauty that I’ve been searching for in vain for more than a year.
And I picked up three skeins of this yarn, mainly because I’ve never seen it before:
I’ve already knit it up. But you’ll have to come back tomorrow to see what I made.

I finished them. Hopefully, photos tomorrow.
I’ve seen that yarn online, but never in person. I’m curious about how you like it.
Love the sock! Just wish I had time to knit these days
Looks like a Sorting Hat charm so I’ll guess: Sorted Socks?
Lightning Socks?
Looked like buzz lightyear to me.
What is that metal curly-q thingy? I can tell that you might slip yarn through the extra loopy bits, but I’m not precisely sure what it’s for… my best guess would be to hold your strands of yarn separate on your finger when you’re doing colorwork. Am I right?
I’m guessing Harry’s Socks…looks like lightening, She-who-whatever could be a takeoff on He-who-must-not-be-named–and well, it looks like the lightening bolt scar on Harry Potter’s face….
These socks are awesome. Thanks for the pattern. I haven’t started them yet but I plan to very soon. I think the name of the pattern is Lightening Bolt Socks like the scar on Harry Potter’s forehead. The zigzag lace is the same as Harry’s scar!
Zen Socks?
i’ve knitted Felt It, when it first came into the store where i no longer work. it felted up fine, a good tight felt and still flexable. i simply knitted a rectangle and made a tri-fold clutch. i had saved a little of it, unfelted to edge the bag. shore was cute, wish i’d taken a foto.
and
i’ve finished my sox and IF i can put new Batt-eries in the BatCam i’ll photo them. white wool. i intetd to give them to my DD for her “laying in”
Dobby likes socks…I’ll guess they’re called Dobby’s Gift!
I finished my second sock today! Mine are Wool-Ease in “blue mist,” knit on 4.5 mm needles. They are so cushy and nice!
Mine are done. I’ll need to practice that kitchener, but they are good enough for me and my first pair!
Pictures going up soon. Montana natural (light worsted), acid dyed in shades of blue, size US5 DPNs.
I think I would make the leg longer if I did these again, and perhaps the heel a little wider – I’ve got biggish feet.
Unfortunately, mine are stuck near the toe. I got distracted…
I’m thinking the clues might lead to the Thinking cap found in the Harry Potter books, but I haven’t read them and it’s been a while since I saw any of the movies.
BTW, I could set up a Flickr group, if you’d like.
what do you need a tension-thingy for?
Well…I’ve guessed once..but how about
Magical Socks?
Mine are done! I’ll add a blue pair to the off-white and the red ones that I’ve seen already…

And I’ll put in today’s guess for “Socks-That-Must-Not-Be-Named”!
Hi Susan,
you can open a group in flickr and after that you can invite the people who finished their sock with an email and so they can afterwards post their pics in that specific group you opened.
If you would have told me you were searching for that thingie, I could have send you some, the are not hard to find here
Sibylle
Harry Potter socks! I love them
I guessed “seriatim” last week so I suppose that was wrong. Hmmm, the “Knight” can jump from one corner to the other sooooo, “Jump-stitch cuffs” or “three-track cuffs”?
I read about the “things” which happened in your region. So tragic!
i agree with the others – looks like HP scar! i started my socks late but will finish & have pics soon. thanks for a great knit-a-long!
Wizard socks? The Boy Who Lived Socks?
Thanks for the pattern, BTW.
So what was the restaurant? Was it good? It’s like you disappeared all weekend and I half expect to hear sightings of you at SPA. Hope you are feeling better.
How about “lava socks” or “lava flow socks”… is that a little thingy made of lava?
Thinking Hat Socks is my guess
Gryffindor Socks
sorting hat socks
I am completely diverting from Harry Potter here and calling them the Ziggy socks.
I have no idea about the socks, but I’m guessing the little beauty you’ve been searching for is some kind of accessory for your wheel.
Well, since nobody has actually said his name, how about the Voldemort Socks?
I saw that “felty” yarn the other day at Michaels. Can’t wait to see what you made.
As for the socks, am I disallowed from guessing the name? I was making them, but then decided that I need gloves more than socks right now, so I turned them into a pair based on Ann Budd’s super-fantastic-party-of-patterns book. Although really, I’m only at the thumb of the first one, since I can’t decide if I really like the yarn I used or if I want mittens or gloves. It’s a cool lace/pattern combo though. Eventually I’ll make myself a matching set of foot and hand warmers.
I have one of those yarn carriers! If I had known you were searching, I would have sent it to you, as I decided its probably too fussy for me (I don’t like thimbles much either). OK, my next guess is Peaked Hat Socks.
sorting socks
They are, undoubtedly, “The-Socks-That-Must-Not-Be-Named”
Thanks for the pattern!

One down, one to go. What a fun quick project!
I’m also thinking that the socks are “Lightening Bolts”. Lovely pattern.
My socks are up!
I hope the html worked. *L*
I am such a lurker, but I have to suggest Witchener socks, because they use the magic kitchener stitching!
My completely out of the blue guess is “Strange Brew Socks”, because that’s what clicking the “she-who-could-not-kithcener-but-now-can” link got me. I’ve finished the variegated one, and am working to finish that pair, but then some caterpillar-green Opal called piteously to me, and I’ve got three socks on the needles again.
Well, mine are red, knit in Cottage Craft.
They are incredibly warm and appealing in a sexy lumberjack kind of way.
So, I’ m calling mine “Ishpeming hooker socks.”
It is pretty easy to set up a Group (or Pool) for the photos in Flickr – let me know if you still need help and I would be happy to hook you up!
I’ll be curious to hear about your adventures with the stranded knitting holder – I’ve always wondered how well they work!
Voldemor Socks
I found one of those in Walmart of all places! I hadn’t enetered one of their stores in at least 5 years but had to have a pair of size 35 needles to knit some Gelato. Thier selection was poor, as I expected, but they had a knitting holder. Surprise, surprise.
I am ready to give those “Twisted” socks a whirl.
My socks are done! They were such a quick, fun knit that I am planning on making them again in a more appropriate yarn.
I don’t have a clue what the name is, but I sure do like mine!
Your blog is so easy to follow when you give instructions. You just outdo us all with your knidness and help.
zeneedle socks – my guess for the name
Love that book and new gadgets are always fun. I’m all about the gadgets!
My guess for your sock is: Perfectly Kitchenered
Mine are done. They’re going to the CIC Big Kids Challenge.
There’s a picture on my blog today.
I admit to starting late – after I saw Pat’s pretty red pair – so I missed the mystery fun, but not the knitting fun.
Thanks for a nice pattern, Susan.
