Bad Influences
Saturday was a treat!
Kim drove down from Idaho and Margene invited me to tag along with the two of them for lunch and a mini yarn crawl. Look at the huge bag of wonderful Idaho merino top that Kim brought for me!
After a fabulous meal of lentil soup and baba ganooj at one of my favorite restaurants, we headed to Three Wishes.
Here’s Kim and Margene contemplating the construction of some Colinette:
If you’re wondering what the hell Margene is wearing around her neck, all I’ll say is that it’s not made from novelty yarn. You’ll have to get the story from her.
Those grrls are bad influences, I tell you. They absolutely would not allow me to leave the shop without purchasing something.
I’m not always drawn to blues, but these rovings by Judy Jackson just sang to me. Or maybe that voice I heard was Kim and Margene subliminally directing my purchasing.

Judy Jackson and Kate Robertson both dye yarns that don’t even need subliminal help from co-shoppers. They just yell, BUYMEBUYMEBUYME, until you give in. Lovely choices.
Like you needed arm twisting to buy that. I’m not fond of blues, but even I’d have grabbed those too.
The blues were lovely choices. I can’t wait to see it spun up! Yum!

It was so great to see you—what a fun afternoon, huh? I can’t wait to see what you guys do with that Merino top. I’m having a great time with the spindle, and man…I could have moved in to Three Wishes!
My knitting hubby worked outside of Tooele for a year and when in SLC the Mazza Cafe was one of his very favorite places to eat. 3 Wishes looks like a great place.
Oy…the neck thing…do I really need to fess up? We didn’t need to say a word…it was Kristine;-) It was a super fun day!
Looks like a grand time. Look forward to seeing the blue roving spun up.
Sounds like fun and I want to go to that restaurant in September, okay? And I *suppose* I could be coerced into Three Wishes, too.
Looks like a fabulous time was had by all. I am so jealous of the experience. Lovely pics.
The neck thing is probably a cowl. I have knit several as presents this year. The recipients have all loved them because they are kind of “easier” to deal with than a scarf but it still keeps your neck warm. Nice color choice on the blues. Hope you have fun spinning it up!
Yay for good times. I wanna come to Utah!!!
Wow, lovely colors.
I can’t imagine them being enablers???!!!
That shop really draws you in, I hear.
Those are beautiful! I love the turquoise one!
That white roving!. I promised this year to work with color. No more white!
Well, my very first thought after “Great! More pictures of the fun weekend!”…. was “What the hell is that neck thing Margene is wearing… I don’t remember reading about her knitting something like that… how did she get it on…. what the hell?”
Oh, what a fun time that must have been!
I have to say, Salt Lake sounds like an incredible place to visit if you have a knowledgeable tour guide. Someone to teach you how to do the secret handshake that will get you a martini at the restaurant…
I missed you guys by a coupla hours – I was at Three Wishes earlier in the morning after my run up to Lynn’s mill. Pooh!
But hopefully will see you tomorrow night if the snow isn’t too bad!
Hi, Kim!
Looks like Margene just wrapping some Colinette around her neck to me.
I must have just missed you on Saturday at Three Wishes because I was also there, probably a little earlier than you. Three Wishes is a great yarn store, and I’ll have to try Mazza cafe sometime. I’ve started my shawl, and have 61 stitches. Maybe I’ll sit down and do the math on how to figure out how much more I really have to do
What a fun trip! I’d forgive Margene if she was wearing novelty.
Being an enabler is so much fun. The fiber looks gorgeous. I’m running a contest over at blog if you’re interested.
What lovely blues… like spinning the sky. I will miss getting to see you next week, but glad we both have vacations to look forward to!
I’m drinking it all in wishing I were there too~!
